Tronrud Family | Skagway Flats
I am a sucker for afternoon light, but morning light should get some credit, too. It makes for a soft, lovely canvas with an abundance of golden hues. The Tronruds opted for the morning, and we created some really lovely images.
My favorite way to photograph families is in their natural environment – playing on a mountain, digging in the sand and running through a valley. In Skagway, there are an abundance of places to play, and one of my favorites is this grassy spot.
Believe it or not, these flats are right next to the airport. Skagway’s airport is tiny, with only Seaplanes flying in and out. Still – it’s an airport. But when the tide goes far out into the sea, this grassy spot opens up, begging for sticks to be thrown and pebbles tossed into the flowing Skagway River.
That’s just what this family of six did. Enjoy our beautiful morning spent in golden light with a bunch of adventurous kiddos ready to get their hands dirty.
