When Kiara asked me to photograph her senior pictures, I didn’t realize I would be photographing Skagway royalty! Kiara is a descendant of Harriet Pullen, one of Skagway’s most entrepreneurial women. She arrived during the Klondike Gold Rush, sold pies, held tours and built one of the town’s most beautiful hotels.

Unfortunately, the Pullen House has since burned down, but a single stone chimney remains. We took photos in front of the chimney, along with a rocking chair original to the hotel, and even in a dress owned by Harriet herself. It was a walk down memory lane with a beautiful Skagway School senior. Congratulations, Kiara! Thanks for the fun afternoon.
